Happy Monday everyone!
I believe many of you have the day off today for MLK Jr. Day, and I am a bit jealous of you! Nonetheless, I am in Spain, and, if you had the day off, I assume you are in the US. So, I don’t know who is more jealous of whom. :)
Today I went to class again (imagine that! I’m actually NOT on vacation! Haha). Spanish at 11 AM—good class and I will definitely learn a lot. It is Advanced Written Communication, but we also do a lot of speaking in class, meaning I’ll get plenty of practice in. Just in the first few pages of the text, there were so many new vocabulary words! I definitely need to start a dictionary to learn all of these words. I also think Maria is trying to set me up to study with a daughter of a friend of hers. The daughter wants to practice English with me, and I can practice Spanish with her. What a deal (as Fr. Carlson would say)! After lunch, I headed to dance with a few friends of mine. Unfortunately, we failed to remember exactly where the dance studio was (it’s off campus, and I’ve only been there once, 5 days ago, so give me a break), and we had to go back to campus, ask for directions, and then we got to class 25 minutes late. Oh well. Dance is interesting because there are way more chicas than chicos, so some of the girls (me included) are learning the boys’ part. Not ideal, in my opinion, and I’m seriously considering dropping the class. It may be kinda fun and different, but do I really need added stress? Probably not. After dance, I run back to campus to get to philosophy. I’ve only had two classes of philosophy, but, man, am I bored. It’s an intro class, but the professor is going so slow that I feel like a kindergartener. We had 1½ pages of reading for homework, and we didn’t even get to them in class yet. Hopefully I’m not bored the whole semester… After that, I came home and started work, which consists of checking emails, Facebook, talking to people from home, doing a little homework, looking for hotels in Paris, checking out flights for other trips, and finally updating the blog. What a busy life I lead. :)
That’s all for now I suppose. If you have time, I highly recommend reading this article (see the link below) on happiness that was assigned for my Positive Psychology class—this is an area of research in which I would love to be involved!
Love you all,
Elizabeth
