Hi friends,
Things are settling down a bit for me (although it’s nearly the end of the semester, so I’m probably just imagining the lull), but I haven’t been able to get up much motivation to write a new post. So, I’m going to keep this relatively short. Lo siento.
On Thursday, I had Positive Psychology and art history. For art history, we went on a field trip to Retiro Park. It was a gorgeous day, which made it really fun. I met M, Mom, and Emma at the park afterward, and then M and I went shopping for a bit. I got a pair of awesome black boots. :) After that, we all went to the apartment to have dinner that Maria cooked for us. She made so much food! Croquettas, two types of tortilla, a huge salad, and then flan and torijas for dessert. I finished all my food because I’m used to how much she makes and it was delicious, but Mom, Emma, and M couldn’t finish everything. Just too much! It was great for everyone to meet each other though. I’m happy Maria got to meet so many members of my family!
I spent Thursday night at the hotel because we had an early start on Friday for our tour of Segovia and Ávila. I’ve already talked about those two cities in previous posts, so I’m not going to go into that. But it was a fun day, and the weather was great again. When we got back to Madrid, we met up with Victoria and then went to dinner at Posada de la Villa. It was nice to have a good meal with great people.
Saturday morning was their flight back to Chicago, and I said goodbye to them Friday night. Sad to say bye, but I only have a few more weeks here in Spain, and I know they will fly by quickly. That night, I had a movie/chill/girls night with Victoria at her apartment. It was great to have a legitimately relaxing night. On Sunday, I went early to the Rastro with Victoria (well, not that early, but I like sleeping in…). Then I hung out at home, did homework, and relaxed since the weather was not fantastic.
This week, we are having wonderful weather—in the 70s every day! I am getting tan, but don’t worry, I’m wearing sunscreen. Yesterday I just went to class and worked on homework. It was especially difficult to pay attention in philosophy because it was too warm in the room and the topic was dull (and I don’t even remember what it was… oops). Today, we had Positive Psychology outside! It was fun, but also distracting because everyone was outside enjoying the weather. But we were assigned to get into groups and try to think of ways that we would change the current world to shape it into a utopia. Very difficult assignment and each idea brought up a bunch of new problems. But it was also quite interesting. I had my second art history midterm today, and I think it went pretty well. I also have a presentation for that class on Thursday, and I’m a bit nervous for it, so say a quick prayer for me, please!
Have a wonderful week everyone.
Much love,
Elizabeth
