Hello!
This is going to be a quick update before I leave for Dublin in the morning! The past week has been kind of a weird/off week for everyone—I think it’s mostly due to the crappy weather, but the fact that everyone had midterms could also have influenced the situation. Anyway, we didn’t really do much fun or exciting this week because people were studying and it wasn’t enjoyable to sit outside. Anyway, I had my art history midterm on Thursday. I was a bit nervous for it because I hadn’t studied too much, but I’m pretty good with history, so I thought I could scrape by. It was actually a decent test, although it was a lot of writing. Five separate short answer/essay questions, so I wrote about 5 pages. We’ll see how what kind of a grade I get…
After class on Thursday, a group of us went to get sangria. We went to our normal bar, but this time the sangria did not taste good—it was watered-down, cheap wine. However, that didn’t stop us from having a good time! The social/fun time was definitely what we all needed after a stressful week, so I’m glad we went. Today I slept in, and then went to campus around 1:30. Victoria and I planned our trip for next weekend (after my birthday)—we’re going to Granada!! I’ve read that this is the one place in Spain that you must visit, so I’m very happy that I’m going to make it there. Madeline and I also made some plans/arrangements for this upcoming weekend in Dublin. I am so excited to visit Ireland! I think it’s going to be one of the best trips of the semester (although I can’t really imagine a trip that I’m not going to like, and all the ones I’ve been on so far have been wonderful). :) I’ll definitely be giving you all an update when I get back to Madrid on Tuesday.
I did a little shopping on my way home from campus—actually bought 2 dresses for less than 30 Euros! Clothes are relatively inexpensive here, but food is often very expensive… it’s a trade off, I suppose. This evening, only Maria and I were home since Abby already left for Valencia for the weekend. Maria ate dinner with me tonight, which was nice. I definitely got lucky with her as my señora!
Okay, I’m pretty tired and have to get up early to get to the airport, so adios for now.
Much love,
E
